NURALIFE Care & Maintenance Guide
Thank you for choosing a NURALIFE handmade blanket. Crafted from natural materials, your blanket is an heirloom-quality piece. Proper care will ensure it remains beautiful and cozy for generations. Please follow these guidelines based on the primary fiber content of your blanket.
General Care Tips for All Blankets
-
Air & Refresh: Regularly air your blanket outdoors in a shaded area to maintain freshness.
-
Spot Clean: Address spills immediately by gently dabbing (not rubbing) the area with a clean, damp cloth.
-
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place, preferably in a breathable cotton bag or box. Avoid plastic bags, which can trap moisture and cause mildew.
-
Avoid Direct Sunlight: Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause fibers to fade over time.
Care by Material
1. Wool Blankets
-
Washing: We strongly recommend dry cleaning for best results, especially for larger blankets. This preserves the wool's natural oils and shape.
-
Hand Wash (if necessary): If hand washing, use cold water and a mild, wool-specific detergent. Gently submerge the blanket without agitating or wringing it. Rinse thoroughly in cold water.
-
Drying: Never machine dry wool. Lay the blanket flat on a clean towel in its original shape, away from direct heat or sunlight. Reshape it as it dries.
-
Pilling: Minor pilling is natural with wool and a sign of high-quality, soft fibers. Gently remove pills with a fabric comb or cashmere shaver.
2. Cotton Blankets
-
Washing: Machine washable on a gentle or delicate cycle in cold or lukewarm water. Use a mild detergent.
-
Drying: Tumble dry on low heat or, ideally, line dry to prevent shrinkage and conserve energy. Remove from the dryer while slightly damp to minimize wrinkles.
-
Ironing: If desired, iron on a medium setting while the blanket is still slightly damp.
3. Linen Blankets
-
Washing: Machine wash on a gentle cycle in cold water with a mild detergent. Wash separately as linen can be prone to linting initially.
-
Drying: Tumble dry on low heat. Line drying is excellent and enhances linen's natural, beautiful crinkled texture.
-
Ironing: Iron on a medium-to-high setting while the blanket is still slightly damp for a smooth finish. Embrace the wrinkles for a relaxed, rustic look.
Important Notes
-
Always check the specific care label attached to your blanket.
-
First Wash: Wash separately as some natural fibers may release a small amount of lint initially.
-
Bleach: Do not use bleach or harsh chemicals on any NURALIFE blanket, as it can damage the fibers.
-
Professional Cleaning: For delicate blends or if you are unsure, seeking professional dry cleaning is always the safest option.
